Uberman/Eddie Nicholas - the hero of our story (duh). He is a young man with a variety of superpowers which he has had in his blood since birth and have developed with his age. It takes a long time for Eddie to accept his powers and the identity of Uberman, but he eventually rises to the challenge of being a superhero. He isn’t your typical valiant invinsible hero with a booming voice, although he does unsucessfully try to put on that image from time to time. Despite being a superhero, Eddie is a person with fears and doubts like anyone, but his confidence and courage always lead him to prevail in the end.
Tenor - B2 - A4 (must hit 1 high C)
Dr. Laserbrain - a scientific genius who considers himself to be the epitome of evil. Laserbrain has a very short temper, particularly for those who he believes to be intellectually inferior to him (i.e. everyone). With a very colorful and slightly flamboyant personality, his evil persona can occasionally come off as being forced.
Baritone - A2 - F#4
Fran Summers - a young woman who works as an advisor to the mayor. She is spunky and unbending, but underneath her tough skin she has a very kind heart. Fran works for the government because she wants to make a difference herself, particularly with the crime she sees on the street every day. She defends what she believes in against all odds, even if it means putting herself at risk.
Alto or Mezzo-soprano*
Jacob Wallace - a demented psychopath most famous for a long killing spree which included several police officers. Wallace rejects any laws or order society has made. He follows only his twisted animal instincts. He is a very dangerous and chilling villain, contrasting Dr. Laserbrain heavily.
Bass - E2 - D4
The Narrator - a mysterious superhero who tells the story of Uberman, occasionally intervening to affect the story’s events. She is very tongue-in-cheek and is relatively neutral to the characters’ emotions or ambitions, but she does have a noticable soft-spot for Uberman.
Mezzo-soprano with belt or soprano with belt*
Jeremy Brunham - the cocky and conceited aide to the mayor, as well as a co-worker of Fran and Eddie’s. He has an obsession with Fran, and since he’s been handed everything in his life, he can’t accept a rejection from her. Underneath his confident face, he’s actually a wimp filled with hate and envy towards Uberman for getting Fran.
Tenor - B2 - A4
Jackie Daniels - the mayor of the city and a staunch opponent of Uberman. She is fast-talking, controlling, and power-hungry. She hates the idea of Uberman having so much popularity in her city, and will stoop to any low to soil his name and reputation.
Contralto - G3 - C5
Emma - Eddie’s friend as a teen who is the first one to ever know the extent of his powers and accept him. Emma is very excitable and optimistic, sometimes a bit too over-zealous for Eddie’s taste. She has a very strong heart and will and is determined to see Eddie become the hero he was born to be.
Soprano - B3 - G5
Sgt. Mickey Landers - an oafy but good-hearted and honest cop who becomes an ally of Uberman. He has a personal vendatta against Wallace, being the cop who tracked him down and eventually apprehended him.
Baritone - A2 - D4
Hilda von Fleischer - an ex-German rocket scientist during WWII (no one’s sure how she’s still alive) who becomes one of Dr. Laserbrain’s top henchmen and scientists. Clearly unfit for her position and reluctance to do evil, she is constantly chewed out by Laserbrain.
Mezzo-soprano (needs German accent)
Ray - the loveable genetic abomination made from one of Laserbrain’s failed experiments. He is super strong, dopey, and has the heart and mind of a child.
